Tasty Homemade Soup Recipes

You can never have too many tasty homemade soup recipes. Why? Well, homemade soup is the ultimate comfort food, ideal for winter. What can be more welcoming than a bowl of tasty hot soup and some freshly baked homemade bread?

In this article, I’m going to give you a few of the very popular homemade soup recipes I have. Some of them will be the hot tasty homemade soup recipes for everyday use and some will be a little more sophisticated to serve as starters when you give dinner parties.

You will agree with me that serving soup as a starter is always popular with everyone.

Try some of these homemade soup recipes and you will be surprised how easy they are to make and how much your family will love them.

Then again, it is also easy to come up with a hearty soup with what you have in the Pantry and Fridge. I believe if you have some good quality stock, onions and potatoes you can make a tasty soup with whatever you have.

Homemade Soup Recipes – Lentil Soup Recipe

Lentil soup is an evergreen soup and will always be popular. This is one of my homemade soup recipes that is a well-known recipe, but with a little twist to it to make it a little more special. This lentil soup will fill up any “holes” in the long winter months. Soup freezes very well, so make it when you have the time, freeze and it is ready for a quick supper during the crazy holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams lentils
  • 375 grams of smoked bacon
  • 125 grams onions
  • 3 cloves
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 750 grams potatoes
  • 1 glass of good quality red wine (never use wine in your cooking that you would not drink!)
  • 2 tomatoes
  • parsley
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar

Method

  1. Peel and chop the onions
  2. Add 2 liters of cold water and the bacon
  3. Boil for 45 minutes
  4. Peel and chop the onions
  5. Add to the lentils with the cloves
  6. Add salt and pepper
  7. Add cubed potatoes and boil for another 30 minutes
  8. Remove the bacon from the soup and keep warm
  9. Add red wine and vinegar
  10. Cut tomatoes in eights and leave to simmer in the soup for 5 minutes
  11. Add slices of bacon again
  12. Sprinkle with parsley and serve

Homemade Soup Recipes – Parsley Soup

Another of my homemade soup recipes that your family will enjoy is this tasty parsley soup. Keep in mind that parsley is very healthy and should not only be used as decoration.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 lb of good parsley
  • 2 ounces of onions
  • 3 ounces of potatoes
  • 1 ounce butter
  • 1 ounce
  • 1/2 gill full cream milk
  • 11/2 pints of good quality stock

Method:

  1. Slice the onions and coarsely chop the parsley
  2. Put the stock into a pot with salt and bring to the boil
  3. Add onions and parsley and simmer for 30 minutes
  4. Use a hand blender, such as the Cuisinart CSB-76 Smart Stick Hand Blender, to blend the above
  5. Melt the butter in a pan
  6. Add the flour
  7. Pour on the blended soup and stir until boiling
  8. Dice the potatoes, and simmer them in the milk until soft with the lid on the pot
  9. Add to the soup and serve

Homemade Soup Recipes – Soup Creole Recipe

Now we get to one of my homemade soup recipes that are very suitable for entertaining, yet still very easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons chopped onions
  • 4 tablespoons chopped green peppers
  • 2 ounces of butter
  • 11/2 ounces flour
  • 1 lb. sliced tomatoes
  • 2 pints of good quality stock
  • salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • a few drops of vinegar (to taste)
  • a little cooked macaroni for garnish

Method:

  1. Simmer onions and peppers in the butter for 5-7 minutes without browning
  2. Draw aside
  3. Stir in the flour, tomatoes, and lastly the stock
  4. Bring to the boil and simmer for about an hour
  5. Blend the soup with a hand blender until smooth
  6. Season highly adding the horseradish
  7. Add the vinegar to taste
  8. Garnish with the macaroni cut across into rings

Homemade Soup Recipes – Gazpacho With Croutons Recipe

The last of my homemade soup recipes I’m going to give you today is the easiest of soups you can get, yet a well-loved one worldwide. Serve this soup very cold. For the easiest way to prepare this soup, you will need a food processor such as the Cuisinart 11 Cup Pro Custom 11 Food Processors

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup finely chopped peeled tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup each of finely chopped green pepper, celery, and cucumber
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 teaspoons snipped parsley
  • 1 small glove of garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons tarragon white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups tomato juice

Method:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a stainless steel or glass bowl
  2. Cover and chill for at least four hours
  3. Serve chilled in cups
  4. Serve with crisp croutons

Croutons:

  • Cut slightly dry bread in half-inch cubes.
  • Melt a little butter in a skillet and add the bread cubes
  • Toss lightly
  • Heat and stir tell croutons are golden brown
